Custom Cataract Surgery: Distance and Astigmatism Correction

At nJoy Vision, we believe that every patient should receive a treatment plan customized to their particular vision needs.

To help determing the best course of action for the patient, we’ve developed two separate cataract surgery packages that ensure each patient is treated as individually as possible.

The Custom Cataract Surgery Package was developed specifically for cataract patients with astigmatism and distance vision problems. This surgical plan was designed to give patients minimal dependence on distance vision glasses, and may include the following technologies:

Toric IOLs

Astigmatism can be corrected using various surgical techniques (arcuate incisions) or by using a toric intraocular lens. A toric lens is designed to reduce or eliminate astigmatism and improve distance vision.

AcrySof Toric (Alcon) and STAAR Toric (STAAR) IOLs are two brands of toric IOLs available that treat astigmatism and may be the best choice for patients who suffer from cataracts and astigmatism.

AcrySof® IQ Toric IOL is a unique toric design that offers astigmatism patients the opportunity for bilateral spectacle-independent distance vision. Aspheric technology reduces spherical and higher-order aberrations, which offers increased contrast sensitivity and improved functional vision.

A toric lens is designed to reduce or eliminate astigmatism and improve distance vision.

The STAAR Toric IOL is a foldable lens that your surgeon implants in your eye during cataract surgery. It is designed to correct astigmatism and help you regain quality distance vision. STAAR Toric IOLs are the only toric lens made from silicone, a stable, non-toxic and flexible material the human eye comfortably tolerates.
